It took 24 of the most famous pipe makers to create this special pipe: Tom Eltang, Former, Jess Chonowitsch, Tonni Nielsen, Kent Rasmussen, Teddy Knudsen, Poul Ilsted, Peter Hedegaard, Ulf Noltesmeie, Peter Heeschen, Søren Refbjerg, Kurt Balleby, Erik Nielsen, Bjørn Thurmann, Dura Semjaniv, Bengt Carlson, Peter Heding, Anne Julie, Arne Urup, Jan Windeløw, Kurt Hansen, Bo Nordh, João Reis and Rainer Barbi.

The pipe is stamped: “SPR – Oct 29.04”. SPR stands for “Scandinavian Pipe makers Reunion” and the occasion was the 30 years anniversary of Tom Eltang as professional pipe maker. During the great celebration in Tom’s workshop the pipe was created. To ensure the success and quality of this special pipe and to handle the very special production, Tom had challenged one of the great veterans in the business, Former to carry out the reparation and great planning along with careful management of all individual phases.

The result is this magnificent horn shape pipe. A full report written by Jan Andersson along with pictures of the whole process will be published in one of the first coming “Pipes & Tobacco” magazines. The pipe will be auctioned on eBay in mid February 2005 and the income will be used to create an online forum for the mutual benefit of all Scandinavian pipe makers - hopefully to be expanded to a worldwide pipe maker forum at a later time.

Along with the pipe comes a beautiful “sceptre” with stamps of all the pipe makers joining forces in creating this unique pipe and a very fine handmade certificate created by the daughters of Tom and Pia Eltang with the original signatures of all the pipe makers.
