Poul Ilsted is famous for his Rhodesians and Bulldog's, - and for his sharp, straight and yet gentle edges on his panels pipes and on the bulldog shanks and stems. This pipe is well crafted. The stem work is cultured amber and ivory and it fits perfect with the shank - no matter what way you turn it...!! The tenon fits the mortise just perfect - not too loose, and not to tight. There is a perfect balance in this pipe, and I can hold the pipe between my teeths without getting tiered. |

The overall finish of the pipe is good. Especially the stem is great work with mirror-polished art amber and inlay of two rings of mat polished ivory - very sophisticated... The sandblasting is not very deep, and the grain not terrible interesting, but all in all nice and "quirt". |

As I have experienced wit all my Ilsted's this one too is a perfect smoker. Gives a very cool smoke with my favorite "Maduro" form Robert Mc. Connell - and the bowl is large enough to smoke flake too. | |||||||||||||||

This light bulldog is yet another example of one of Poul's perfect pipes. It has become one of my favorites among the Ilsted's I have in my collection. In fact this is my first Ilsted. I bought it two years ago in Copenhagen before I even knew Poul. I have visited him many times since in his home and workshop, and I keep buying his pipes. They are beautiful and with a personality of their own - just like Poul himself. |
